Windstorm Approved

Built for Windstorm Zones. Trusted by Contractors.

Attic Breeze solar attic fans are engineered to perform in extreme weather conditions, including high-wind zones along the Gulf Coast. Independently tested and certified, our fans meet the standards of both the Florida Building Code and Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) for windstorm-rated products.

With performance ratings for wind speeds exceeding 170 MPH (Category 5 hurricane force), our fans are built to deliver lasting durability where it matters most – on the roof. This makes Attic Breeze a smart choice for contractors working in regulated windstorm areas that require code-compliant ventilation solutions.

Not all regions have formal certification requirements, but when they do, we meet them. If you’re building or retrofitting in a designated windstorm zone, check local codes and refer to our certification documents for verification.

Don’t compromise with imported products that may not meet code. Choose Attic Breeze – tested, approved, and built to last.

Texas Windstorm Certification (TDI)

The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) requires that all products which are installed fastened to a roof within the thirteen county Texas Gulf Coast Windstorm Region be independently tested and windstorm certified. Attic Breeze SFA and SFD model solar attic fans are Texas windstorm approved (Texas Department of Insurance Product Approval #RV-59) and meet TDI Building Code requirements for the Texas Gulf Coast Windstorm Region. Attic Breeze GM and WM model solar attic fans are also approved for this region since they do not require roof penetration (i.e. windstorm product approval is not needed).

TDI Documents:

Miami-Dade Product Certification

The City of Miami (including Dade and Broward counties) does not participate in the Florida Building Code product certification process, choosing instead to require their own separate product certification system. Unfortunately, Miami-Dade windstorm certification only applies to Dade and Broward counties and nowhere else in the country. Due to the lack of applicability to other areas and the annual expenses associated with the certification process, Attic Breeze does not participate in Miami-Dade (FBC – HVHZ) product certification. Please note that Attic Breeze GM and WM model solar attic fans are approved for this region since they do not require roof penetration (i.e. windstorm product approval is not needed).

Florida Windstorm Certification – FBC(HVHZ)

The State of Florida requires that any product installed on a roof be independently tested and certified to meet Florida Building Code (FBC) windstorm standards. Attic Breeze solar attic fans have been thoroughly tested and approved (excluding Dade and Broward Counties) for use in high-velocity hurricane zones (HVHZ) across Florida.

Approved Models for FBC Compliance:

Attic Breeze FBC Product Approval Numbers: FL13339.1, FL13339.2, FL13339.3, FL13339.4, FL47212.1

Cardinal Ventilation by Attic Breeze Models: FBC Product Approval Numbers: FL31962.1, FL47212.1

Our GM and WM model fans are also approved for use in Florida windstorm regions because they do not require roof penetration and are therefore exempt from product approval requirements.
